Documents Required Before Applying

Candidates should keep scanned copies ready before starting the form. The official guidelines mention that documents should be uploaded on the Samarth admission portal, and the certificate size should generally be within the stated upload limit.

  • Recent photograph, not more than two months old.
  • Student signature in English and Hindi.
  • Original Class 10 marksheet and certificate.
  • Original Class 12 marksheet and certificate.
  • Caste certificate, if applicable.
  • EWS certificate, if applicable and within valid period.
  • PwD certificate, if applicable.
  • Other applicable certificates, such as Sports, Fine Arts, NCC or NSS, where relevant.

The admission portal home page also mentions scanned photograph, scanned signature, educational documents and experience or category certificates as part of the document checklist.

Rules for 2026 Class 12 Passed Candidates Without Original Marksheet

The official notice gives a specific relaxation for candidates who passed the Intermediate or Class 12 examination in 2026 but have not yet received the original marksheet.

  • BSEB candidates can upload the web copy downloaded from the official board website, duly attested by the principal of their school.
  • CBSE candidates can upload the DigiLocker copy of the marksheet, duly attested by the principal of their school.
  • Applications submitted on these documents will be treated as provisional.
  • Final admission will be confirmed only after matching the marks with the original Class 12 marksheet at the time of admission.

Candidates should not enter inflated marks or wrong percentage. The university guidelines warn that mismatch between entered marks and original documents can lead to denial of admission.

College and Subject Preference Rules

The Samarth portal displays the list of constituent and affiliated colleges under Purnea University district-wise. Candidates should check which colleges offer the subject they want before filling preferences.

  • Candidates can choose up to two subjects for admission, based on eligibility.
  • For the first chosen subject, candidates can select up to 11 college preferences.
  • The choices may include colleges from up to two districts, one home district and one other district.
  • If fewer colleges are selected, remaining choices should be marked as Not Interested where required.
  • If payment is completed, the second subject option can be filled from the programme section as per the portal process.

The guidelines advise students to choose more colleges in the home or nearby district, because regular classes, form submission and internal examination work will require college visits.

Merit List, Selection and Admission Confirmation

The merit list will be prepared by computer on the basis of marks entered by students, reservation category and cut-off marks for available seats in the selected college and subject. If a candidate is allotted a college, it will be according to merit and seat availability in the preferences submitted by the candidate.

Selection in a merit list does not mean admission is complete. The candidate must physically visit the allotted college within the prescribed time and get all academic, category and other certificates verified from originals. After verification by the college, the candidate must pay the admission fee to complete admission.

The guidelines state that if a selected candidate does not take admission in the allotted merit list for any reason, the candidate will not be able to take admission through any other merit list based on that selection. Not taking admission after selection means the candidate is treated as out of the admission process for that stage.
