Eligibility Criteria for DTU M.Tech Admission 2026

The basic eligibility is a relevant qualifying degree such as B.E., B.Tech, M.Sc., integrated M.Sc., MCA or equivalent, depending on the selected programme. The exact permitted degrees and GATE papers are listed programme-wise in the official brochure.

GATE and Non-GATE Admission Rules

DTU gives first preference to candidates with a valid and qualified GATE score. The GATE score is used to prepare the merit list for full-time M.Tech admission in the relevant programme or department.

Non-GATE candidates can apply for eligible M.Tech programmes, but they are considered only after GATE candidates and only if seats remain vacant. DTU clearly states that non-GATE admission is not available for programmes offered by the CSE, IT and Software Engineering departments.

Merit List and Counselling Process
