DTU M.Tech Programmes Offered in 2026-27

Eligibility Criteria for DTU M.Tech Admission 2026

The basic eligibility is a relevant qualifying degree such as B.E., B.Tech, M.Sc., integrated M.Sc., MCA or equivalent, depending on the selected programme. The exact permitted degrees and GATE papers are listed programme-wise in the official brochure.

GATE and Non-GATE Admission Rules

DTU gives first preference to candidates with a valid and qualified GATE score. The GATE score is used to prepare the merit list for full-time M.Tech admission in the relevant programme or department.

Non-GATE candidates can apply for eligible M.Tech programmes, but they are considered only after GATE candidates and only if seats remain vacant. DTU clearly states that non-GATE admission is not available for programmes offered by the CSE, IT and Software Engineering departments.

• Admission to CSE, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering and Data Science is through GATE score only.
• Non-GATE candidates must appear in the DTU admission test if shortlisted.
• If all seats in a programme are filled by GATE candidates, no non-GATE admission will be conducted for that programme.
• The university decision on seat allotment and admission matters is final.

Application Fee and Programme Fee

The registration fee for DTU M.Tech Admission 2026-27 is Rs. 1500 for all categories. The fee is paid online during registration and choice filling, and it is non-refundable.

If a candidate wants to apply for programmes offered by different departments, separate registration may be required along with separate fee payment. For CSE, IT and Software Engineering programmes, the brochure says only one online form is to be filled and candidates will give preferences for specialisations.

DTU M.Tech Admission Test for Non-GATE Candidates

The DTU admission test is for shortlisted non-GATE candidates and part-time candidates where applicable. The test is scheduled for 11 July 2026, with result on 13 July 2026 and merit list on 14 July 2026.

The cut-off for the admission test will be decided by the university. Programme-wise merit will be prepared using percentile score in the admission test.

Merit List and Counselling Process

For GATE-based full-time admission, DTU prepares merit according to valid and qualified GATE score in the relevant subject and programme. For non-GATE full-time admission, DTU prepares merit after the admission test if vacant seats are available.

The first round admission for GATE candidates is scheduled on 7 July and 8 July 2026. The first round admission for non-GATE candidates is scheduled on 21 July 2026. Candidates selected for admission must report with original documents and the required admission fee as instructed by DTU.

• Programme-wise selected or eligible lists will be published by DTU.
• Spot round admission will be conducted only if seats remain vacant.

Seat Matrix and Reservation

The official brochure lists 663 full-time M.Tech seats across 26 programmes for the 2026-27 session. It also lists 130 supernumerary sponsored full-time seats and 130 part-time seats.

Reservation is as per the rules of the Government of NCT of Delhi. The brochure lists SC reservation as 15 percent, ST as 7.5 percent, OBC as 27 percent, EWS as 10 percent and PwD horizontal reservation as 5 percent.
