CSL Driver Recruitment 2026 Overview

The CSL Driver Recruitment 2026 notification has been issued for Driver (Staff Car) on contract basis. The recruitment is for Indian citizens who meet the prescribed qualification, driving licence, experience, age and document requirements.

Important Dates

Candidates should complete both one-time registration and submission of application before the last date. CSL has advised applicants not to wait until the last day because technical support may not be available after 1600 hrs on the closing date.

Vacancy Details and Reservation

CSL has notified 2 Driver (Staff Car) vacancies. The number of vacancies may be increased, decreased, cancelled or left unfilled depending on CSL requirements.

Government of India reservation directives will apply. OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates must produce a valid recent community certificate issued by the competent revenue authority when required.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should satisfy all eligibility conditions as on the date specified in the notification. The qualification must be from an institute, examination board or authority recognised by the appropriate statutory authority or by the State or Central Government.

Experience acquired after passing the required qualification and after issue of the driving licence will be considered. The period of post-qualification experience will be reckoned as on 09 June 2026.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for CSL Driver Recruitment 2026 shall not exceed 55 years as on 09 June 2026. As stated in the notification, applicants should be born on or after 10 June 1971.

Salary, Contract Period and Posting

The Driver post is on contract basis. The contract tenure is for a maximum period of three years, subject to project requirements and individual performance.

Application Fee

The application fee must be paid online using the payment options available in the CSL online application facility. No other mode of payment is accepted.

The fee is non-refundable. For candidates for whom the fee is applicable, candidature will be considered only after receipt of the application fee.

Selection Process

The selection process for CSL Driver Recruitment 2026 will be through a Practical Test of 100 marks. CSL may scrutinise applications and shortlist candidates based on certificates uploaded in the online application portal.

The rank list will be prepared based on marks secured by candidates who meet the eligibility requirements and pass the Practical Test. If two or more candidates secure the same marks, relative merit will be decided based on seniority in age.

How to Apply Online

Applications must be submitted online through the CSL website. Direct applications or applications submitted by any other mode will not be accepted.

1. Visit the official CSL website at cochinshipyard.in.
2. Open the Career page and go to CSL, Kochi or SAP E-Recruitment section.
3. Read the official notification, user manual and FAQ before starting the form.
4. Complete one-time registration in the SAP online portal.
5. Submit the application against the Driver (Staff Car) post.
6. Upload certificates for age, qualification, driving licence, experience, caste or reservation where applicable, and a recent passport-size colour photograph.
7. Pay the application fee online if applicable.
8. After final submission, check that the application status is shown as ‘In process’.
9. Keep a soft copy or printout of the submitted application with the unique registration number for future reference.

Documents Required

Candidates should keep all supporting documents ready before filling the online form. Incomplete applications, withdrawn applications and applications left in draft status will not be considered.

• Valid Light Motor Vehicle driving licence
• Experience certificate showing relevant driver experience
• Experience proof for Staff Car Driver work with specified senior officers
• Appointment or offer letter and latest pay slip, if current employer has not issued an experience certificate
• Past employment experience certificate with joining and relieving dates, wherever applicable
• OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate, if applying against OBC reservation
• SC/ST certificate, if claiming fee exemption or reservation benefits where applicable
• Recent passport-size colour photograph
• Discharge Certificate, Book or Pension Payment Order for ex-servicemen, if applicable

If a contractor-issued certificate is used as proof of Staff Car Driver experience, it must carry an endorsement from the concerned CPSE, State PSU or Government Department.

Important Instructions for Applicants

• Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
• PwBD candidates should not apply because the notified driver duties involve driving vehicles in factory premises and CSL has stated that deployment of PwBD candidates is likely to put them and others at serious risk.
• Applicants should not submit more than one application. The application once submitted will be final.
• Changes in the application after final online submission will not be considered.
• Applicants do not need to send the printout, certificates or fee proof by post to Cochin Shipyard Limited.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the selection process.
• Call letters will not be sent by post. Shortlisted candidates should check email and the CSL website for updates.
• Any amendment, modification or addition to the advertisement will be published only on the CSL website.
