BSNL JTO Recruitment 2026 Overview

The BSNL Junior Telecom Officer recruitment is a direct recruitment process for the Telecom stream. Candidates from the open market, as well as eligible internal candidates, can apply if they meet the prescribed conditions.

Vacancy Details

BSNL has notified 100 Junior Telecom Officer vacancies across 21 recruiting circles. Reservation will be applied as per Central Government guidelines.

Circle-Wise Vacancy Distribution

Candidates will be asked to choose preferences from the circles where vacancies are available. The final circle allotment will depend on vacancy, preference and merit in the examination.

Eligibility Criteria

Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply. The candidate must also be capable of distinguishing principal colours and should have binocular vision.

The required educational qualification is a Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent from a Central Government or State Government recognised institution or university in one of the following disciplines:

• Telecommunications
• Electronics
• Radio
• Computer
• Electrical
• Information Technology
• Instrumentation

Candidates with M.Sc. in Electronics or M.Sc. in Computer Science are also eligible. Candidates possessing higher qualifications such as M.Tech in the prescribed disciplines mentioned above are also eligible to appear in the direct recruitment examination.

Age Limit and Relaxation

The basic age requirement is minimum 20 years and not exceeding 30 years as on the closing date of receipt of application. Relaxation is available as per the official category rules.

Pay Scale, Bond, Training and Probation

The Junior Telecom Officer (Telecom) post is in the IDA E-1 pay scale. Candidates selected for appointment must also complete the required training and service bond conditions.

Application Fee and Documents Required

The application and examination fee must be paid online only through the BSNL portal. The fee is non-refundable and will not be accepted through any other mode.

Before applying, candidates should keep a working mobile number and email ID ready, along with scanned photograph, scanned signature, Class 10 certificate, essential qualification degree certificate, consolidated marksheet or transcript, photo identity proof, reservation certificate if applicable and PwBD medical certificate if applicable.

How to Apply Online for BSNL JTO Recruitment 2026

Applications must be submitted online only. Manual or paper applications will not be accepted.

1. Visit the official BSNL external examination portal at externalexam.bsnl.co.in.
2. Open the Junior Telecom Officer (Telecom) Direct Recruitment 2026 registration link.
3. Register using a valid mobile number and email ID.
4. Fill in personal details, category details, qualification details and circle preferences carefully.
5. Upload photograph, signature and required supporting documents in the prescribed format.
6. Pay the applicable examination fee through online mode.
7. Submit the application and download or print the computer-generated registration form for future reference.

Candidates should choose circle preferences carefully because change of circle after exercising the option will not be allowed.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The selection process includes a computer-based multiple-choice objective test. Candidates shortlisted in the merit list will be called for document verification, followed by medical examination as per BSNL standards.

The test duration is 3 hours. Each correct answer carries 4 marks and each wrong answer carries a negative mark of 1. Final merit will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in all three sections, subject to minimum qualifying marks.

Minimum Qualifying Marks and Syllabus

For Unreserved and OBC Creamy Layer candidates, the minimum qualifying marks are 40 percent in each section and 50 percent overall. For SC, ST, OBC (NCL), PwBD and EWS candidates, the qualifying marks are relaxed to 35 percent in each section and 45 percent overall.

The engineering stream syllabus includes topics such as materials and components, physical electronics, electron devices and ICs, network theory, electromagnetic theory, electronic measurements and instrumentation, power electronics, analog electronic circuits, digital electronic circuits, control systems, communication systems, microwave engineering, computer engineering and microprocessors.

The General Ability section tests General English, current events, matters of everyday observation, scientific aspects, developments in telecommunications, History of India and Geography.

Admit Card, Exam Centres and Official Links

The admit card for the computer-based test will be available for download from the BSNL portal before the examination. It will not be sent by post or email. Candidates must use their login credentials to download it.

The official notification lists 27 examination cities: Port Blair, Vijayawada, Guwahati, Patna, Chennai, Raipur, Ahmedabad, Ambala, Shimla, Jammu, Ranchi, Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata, Bhopal, Mumbai, Shillong, Dimapur, New Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Meerut and Dehradun. BSNL may allot any listed city or a nearby city depending on the number of candidates.
