Eligibility Criteria
Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply. The candidate must also be capable of distinguishing principal colours and should have binocular vision.
The required educational qualification is a Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent from a Central Government or State Government recognised institution or university in one of the following disciplines:

- Instrumentation
Candidates with M.Sc. in Electronics or M.Sc. in Computer Science are also eligible. Candidates possessing higher qualifications such as M.Tech in the prescribed disciplines mentioned above are also eligible to appear in the direct recruitment examination.

Pay Scale, Bond, Training and Probation
The Junior Telecom Officer (Telecom) post is in the IDA E-1 pay scale. Candidates selected for appointment must also complete the required training and service bond conditions.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern
The selection process includes a computer-based multiple-choice objective test. Candidates shortlisted in the merit list will be called for document verification, followed by medical examination as per BSNL standards.

The test duration is 3 hours. Each correct answer carries 4 marks and each wrong answer carries a negative mark of 1. Final merit will be prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in all three sections, subject to minimum qualifying marks.
Minimum Qualifying Marks and Syllabus
For Unreserved and OBC Creamy Layer candidates, the minimum qualifying marks are 40 percent in each section and 50 percent overall. For SC, ST, OBC (NCL), PwBD and EWS candidates, the qualifying marks are relaxed to 35 percent in each section and 45 percent overall.
The engineering stream syllabus includes topics such as materials and components, physical electronics, electron devices and ICs, network theory, electromagnetic theory, electronic measurements and instrumentation, power electronics, analog electronic circuits, digital electronic circuits, control systems, communication systems, microwave engineering, computer engineering and microprocessors.
The General Ability section tests General English, current events, matters of everyday observation, scientific aspects, developments in telecommunications, History of India and Geography.
Admit Card, Exam Centres and Official Links
The admit card for the computer-based test will be available for download from the BSNL portal before the examination. It will not be sent by post or email. Candidates must use their login credentials to download it.
